A predoctoral researcher and three master’s students will be able to further their studies in biomedicine thanks to the first call for applications for the San Rafael Foundation-UDC Chair Scholarships. In the case of the predoctoral student, the grant will cover a stay abroad, while for the rest, the grant will finance their master’s studies.
CICA has many reasons to be happy about these awards, since 3 of the winners have developed part of their promising scientific career within its research groups.
Cora Rey Souto has done her TFG in the EXPRELA group directed by the researcher Esperanza Cerdán, and thanks to this grant she will do her Master in Cellular Molecular Biology and Genetics at the UDC. She plans to continue in the same group during her TFM.
Mª Eugenia Martínez Quintana, a biotechnology student at the University of León, did an external internship and later the TFG in the TCMR group under the supervision of Ana Rey. The grant she received will allow her to finance the Master’s Degree in Health Care and Research at the UDC.
Lía Jove Filgueiras, student of the double degree in Biology and Chemistry, carried out her TFG between the QUIMOLMAT group and the Microbiology Research Group of INIBIC. Her directors were Carlos Jiménez, Jaime Rodríguez and Alejandro Beceiro. The grant will subsidize the Master in Cellular Molecular Biology and Genetics of the UDC.
In the case of the fourth winner, Mirian López Pardo, a PhD student of the ENVEINF group of INIBIC, it is worth mentioning her willingness to collaborate in the joint events that have been carried out during the period of the CICA-INIBIC Strategic Group.
The award ceremony took place on September 22 and was attended by the rector of the UDC, Julio Abalde; the vice-rector for Science Policy, Research and Transfer, Salvador Naya and the director of the Fundación San Rafael-UDC Chair, Paco Blanco.
