A brief review of our speaker:
Luis Liz Marzán is an Ikerbasque Professor and Scientific Director of the Center for Cooperative Research in Biomaterials (CIC biomaGUNE), where he leads the BioNanoPlasmonics group. He is also a member of CICA's Scientific Advisory Board.
His research focuses on the study of the growth mechanisms of metal nanocrystals, tailoring their surface chemistry and directing their self-assembly into organized nanostructures. In addition, he works on the design of biomedical applications based on the plasmonic properties of metal nanoparticles and nanostructures.
With an H-index of 134, Luis is ranked among the top 100 Spanish researchers in the world. He is co-author of more than 500 publications and has supervised more than 30 PhD theses and 50 postdocs. He has more than 500 invitations as a speaker at conferences and other events.
He has obtained 2 ERC Advanced Grants for the periods between 2011-2017 and 2018-2023, and has been awarded on multiple occasions, among others; the Humboldt Award, the Medal of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry and the Spanish National Award "Enrique Moles" in Chemical Science and Technology.
