A brief review of our speaker:

Alejandro Criado Fernández received his degree and PhD in chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Later, in 2013, as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Trieste, he had the opportunity to work with chemically modified carbon materials. This experience led him to CIC biomaGUNE where, thanks to different grants, such as the Juan de la Cierva grant in the "Incorporation" modality, he developed several biological applications with modified nanomaterials.

Currently, the researcher co-directs the NanoSelf group at CICA with a talent attraction grant from the Xunta de Galicia and has recently received a Ramón y Cajal grant that will be formalized in the first quarter of 2022. His current focus of interest is the search for new methods to prepare and modify carbon nanostructures and other 2D materials, taking full advantage of their properties for the development of biosensors.

Alejandro's scientific production amounts to 39 publications, almost three quarters of which belong to Q1 journals and total approximately 1500 citations.
