At CICA, almost 200 biologists, geologists, doctors and chemists try to ensure that chemistry and biology have the answers that can solve the challenges that society demands of us today. We aim to be a centre with both national and international repercussions, following the standards of the highest impact scientific publications, with innovative developments for companies, and bringing science to the public in a framework of no science that is not communicated. In our centre we have the laboratories and equipment necessary to carry out cutting-edge research and we know that our future impulse is linked to the recruitment of young researchers. Together with the UDC, we are part of the training of undergraduate and doctoral students, so that they can continue to advance in their scientific careers and become part of a new generation linked to the process of improving science in Spain.
One of our strengths is the interdisciplinary nature of Chemistry and Biology, which stand as solutions for the three areas on which CICA is focused: Nanoscience and advanced materials, Biomedicine and the pollution/health binomial.
We believe in equal opportunities, we recognise the difficult gender balance involved in research and, above all, in the necessary rejuvenation faced by both universities and research centres, which is why we try to address these problems with actions that can solve these challenges that are so important for future generations.
