Chuac considers it reasonable to reduce the quarantine to 10 days in certain Covid-19 patients

María del Mar Tomás, researcher at Chuac's Microbiology Group and member of the Strategic Group CICA-INIBIC, has talked about the support that researchers of Chuac express regarding a revision of the protocols of isolation of patients with Covid-19. According to her, there is evidence that after 10 days the viral load drops to levels that are considered non-contagious.

In her opinion, to apply this measure it would be necessary to distinguish between asymptomatic and symptomatic patients, since they are two different profiles and the evolution of the virus in the second group still needs to be further studied.

The researcher recalls that what "is very important is to be isolated the first week, to comply strictly with that period is very important.
