Next Thursday, December 17th, the day of presentation of the results of the BIALAC project will be held online.
This project, funded by the CONECTA PEME program of Axencia Galega de Innovación (Gain) since 2018, develops a biomaterial from surplus serum from the dairy industry and urban sewage sludge. The resulting bioplastic could be used in the production of 100% biodegradable packaging.
The synthesis of a material with industrial applications from other waste products, which are given a second life, places BIALAC within the framework of the circular economy.
The consortium is made up of EMALCSA, the BIOENGIN group of the CICA of the UDC, and the companies ABAKAL, INNOLACT and ECOPLAS.
