    Summary:

The main challenge of the project lies in addressing the complex and interconnected impacts of climate change on Atlantic aquaculture systems.

To face this challenge, CLIRAQUA proposes to evaluate the vulnerability of aquaculture species and environments to changes in temperature, salinity and water quality, ensuring the sustainability of the sector, and to promote climate adaptation and risk prevention through innovative methodologies and restoration of key ecosystems, strengthening climate governance and participation. The results include a data lake with climate projections, interactive vulnerability maps, adaptive management protocols and an early warning system for diseases.

Transnational cooperation will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and the development of scalable solutions that boost the environmental and economic sustainability of the aquaculture sector.

The project supports the New European Bauhaus by making Atlantic aquaculture more resilient to climate change through sustainable, ecosystem-based technologies. It promotes inclusiveness by involving citizens, producers and communities in shared decisions. It also drives innovation by using tools like interactive maps and sensors, combining scientific, technological and local knowledge for integrated solutions.
