Resumen de la conferencia:
Epigenetics is among the most exciting disciplines in modern life sciences, linking environment and genome function into plastic phenotypes. While much advance has been made within medical sciences, epigenetics is still on its infancy in ecologically and environmentally relevant organisms, particularly in marine ecosystems. In this seminar, I will provide an overview of our current knowledge of the different mechanisms participating in the epigenetic regulation of responses to environmental gradients across different charismatic marine species, and their emerging applications for the management and conservation of natural resources. Una breve reseña del CV del Dr. Eirin-López
I got my Ph.D. from the University of A Coruña (2005) working in molecular evolution of gene families. For the next 3 years I was a postdoc at the Univ. of Victoria (Canada) working on chromatin structure and evolution, before returning to the UDC as a Ramon y Cajal investigator applying molecular approaches to marine environmental research. In 2013 I joined FIU as an Assistant Professor, developing a highly integrative research program centered around epigenetics in marine organisms. During my career I have published more than 100 research papers, trained multiple students and attracted more than $20M in research funds.
