Xavier QuerolCarceller has been a research professor at the CSIC since 2004 and since 2008he leads the Environmental Geochemistry and Atmospheric Research group of the CSIC (EGAR-CSIC). Among his main objectives are the study of air quality, especiallythe study of atmospheric aerosols, the detection of environmental threats andtheir causes, as well as the proposal of measures to reduce pollution. In 2013, he received the Rei Jaume I Award for Environmental Protection. He is a member of several Europeancommittees and has been called upon several times as an environmental advisorto the World Health Organization (WHO). Ranking Web of Universities of Spanish researchers places him in the 85th position. His scientificoutput amounts to more than 550 peer-reviewed publications and multiplepatents.
His latestarticle on COVID19: "Changes in air quality during the lockdown in Barcelona (Spain) one month into the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic", adds up to 26 citations just 3 months after its publication.
